BACA means READ in Malay and we are an independent bookstore trying to bring our local community to love reading and trying to bring the reading world to our local community. We feature new, secondhand and antiquarian books and comics instore and online. Temerloh is the birthplace of many Malay warriors. We hope we will be able to produce book warriors too!

Support artistic and educational initiatives
Some of our books or interior decor were brought in specifically to promote community initiatives around Malaysia. Amongst the initiatives supported so far: Biji-biji Initiative; Songs and Stories; Malaysian Writers' Association; Students In Resistance; Orang Asal initiatives led by Shafie Dris and KOME Art Fest.
Shipping and Delivery
All postal delivery within Malaysia are done through Pos Malaysia Berhad. We charge RM8.00 for shipping and handling per standard size book. Each book is carefully packed to avoid risks of damage during its journey to you. Talk to us if you require postal insurance for your delivery.

BACA - The Reading Room & Cafe was established in 2015 with a mission to introduce a wider range of reading materials to the reading community of the East Coast of Malaysia while at the same time promoting the benefits of reading to the 'gadget-plagued' and 'time-impoverished' new generation. Our own passion for reading was what inspired us in the beginning and it continues to drive us today. We pride ourselves in providing a relaxing atmosphere for reading and bookshopping in our physical Store and in the long-term relationships we’ve built with our customers. People come back to BACA - The Reading Room & Cafe because they know they’ll find what they’re looking for on our shelves - and if they don’t, we’ll help them find it via our bookhunting service.
